About Us

The Bates Fly Fishing Club, also known as Bates Guidewaters, aims to be a space that unites and inspires fly fishers on campus. Maine offers some of the best fly fishing in the country, and angling provides a unique way to experience the outdoors. This club aims to make angling more accessible while also highlighting conservation and ecological discussions surrounding Maine's natural resources. Education on these topics is necessary to protect local and global fisheries. Those new to the sport are very welcome! Prepare to learn about river features, aquatic insect life cycles, fly tying, fly casting, and catching fish! Bates Guidewaters invites anyone interested to develop a new perspective on the outdoors and conservation. Send an email to learn more.
