About Us
Mission Statement BFSSC - The Bates Freestyle/freeride Ski & Snowboard Club is a space for anyone passionate about the culture of freeride/freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Whether you're sending it in the park, ripping big mountain lines, capturing clips, editing films, or just love watching the sport progress, this club is for you. Our mission is to build a strong, inclusive community that celebrates creativity, connection, and personal progression both on and off the mountain. We foster this through optional group skiing, media projects, and other activities such as ski tuning workshops open to all levels. We will also run events open to everyone on campus, non members included, like freeride competition and ski movie watch parties. As part of our commitment to broadening access and representation within skiing and snowboarding, one of our primary goals is to grow the presence and positive influence of our club and our sport within the Bates community and beyond; by showcasing our passion, and celebrating the unique energy our members bring to the freeride world. This includes supporting individual members of our community as they pursue opportunities to engage with the broader freeride community, through creative projects, competitions and local engagement. This club will contribute to the local community by actively promoting the Flyin’ Ryan Hawks foundation’s core values challenge. We will aim to get as many people as we can in communities around us to engage with this beneficial reflection. We will represent Bates with pride, ride with respect, and most importantly have each other's backs the whole time.
