First Gen Fund 2025 Fellowship Application

The First Gen Fund, a nonprofit organization established to support first-gen-to-college students, is accepting applications to the 2025 First Gen Fellowship - a $1,000 grant for first-gen students with educational expenses. The First Gen Fund intends to award 50 grants of $1,000, intended to provide direct financial hardship relief to students aroud the country.

The deadline to apply is 11:59 PM Pacific Time on August 29, 2:59 AM Eastern Time of August 30, and just takes a handful of logistical questions and two 500-word statements for the following questions:

• Please describe your "first gen story" and current financial situation.
• How would the First Gen Fellowship help you continue your education?

Awardees will be announced on National First-Gen Day (November 8, 2025) via Instagram @firstgenfund and firstgen.org

Eligibility:
• Full-time first-gen undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited U.S. college/university
• Must be in good academic standing
• Must demonstrate financial hardship (via FAFSA/Pell Grant eligibility, financial proof, or personal statement)
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Funds must be used for education-related expenses (fees, books, housing, basic needs, professional development, school-related transportation, etc.)

If Selected, Fellows Must Submit:
• Recent transcript or enrollment verification report
• Copy of FAFSA Student Aid Report (or equivalent financial documentation)
