Become a Bates International Buddy (BIB) – Senior Buddy Application is now open!

Are you a current student—domestic or international—who wants to help new international students feel at home at Bates? As a Senior Buddy, you'll be matched with one or two incoming international students ("Junior Buddies") to help them navigate academic, social, and campus life. You'll connect in whatever way works best—coffee at The Den, lunch at Commons, text, or social media—from pre-arrival (July/August) through November.

Time commitment: 5–8 hours/month in Fall 2026. You'll meet in person twice monthly, communicate twice weekly via text/email/social media, attend two trainings and two check-ins, and help plan or support one intercultural event.

Why join? Meet students from around the world, build cross-cultural skills, earn a LinkedIn Badge in Cross-Cultural Communication, gain leadership experience, and , above all, have fun—all while making a real difference.

Eligibility: Open to ALL students who are currently first-year, sophomore, or junior in good standing and living on campus fall 2026.
