Bobcat First (B1st) fosters the success of first-generation college students through co-curricular activities, events, workshops, and peer connections. We create a welcoming environment and strive to develop all of our students into life-long learners. Program participants gain knowledge and skills that empower them to grow academically, personally, and professionally. B1st is committed to supporting the dreams of students and provides opportunities for academic development and learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom.

Bates College is committed to helping students resolve conflicts peacefully and to develop the skills needed to successfully navigate conflict and difficult situations throughout their lives. Restorative Practices include both proactive educational opportunities and responsive programs with a particular focus on repairing the harm and hosting reflective opportunities to consider impact on self and community. To that end, the college has developed a number of programs designed to support students in proactively establishing mutual respect for community members and provides methods to repair harm when conflicts arise.
