Mission
Are you interested in debate? Do you have a passion for international issues? Have you ever thought about pursuing a career in international relations and diplomacy? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please consider joining Bates Model UN. What is Model UN? Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems. If you were part of a Model UN club in high school, great! If not, no problem. No prior Model UN experience is necessary and all are welcome! In recent years, our club has had great success participating in conferences at Harvard, Brown, and McGill University, and we would like to keep that success going with some fresh new faces!

Membership Benefits
Members of Bates Model UN will be presented the opportunity to build on their previous Model UN skills or start their MUN journey through both practice simulations hosted at regular meetings and conferences we attend at other schools. Additionally, members will have the opportunity to give back through the conference we host for Lyman Moore Middle School.
