Sabbath Queen is a 2024 documentary following Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie, a queer descendant of a long line of Orthodox rabbis, as he reinvents Jewish tradition by becoming a drag queen (Rebbetzin Hadassah Gross) and founding the inclusive Lab/Shul congregation, all while grappling with ancestral expectations and modern spiritual challenges, culminating in his own rabbinical ordination and advocacy for peace, exploring themes of identity, faith, and radical inclusion over two decades. This screening was organized by the Latin American and Latinx Studies.
