About Us
Small Ensembles Club is a place for classical musicians to participate in recreational chamber music groups as well as meet other musicians. We hope to target experienced chamber musicians, as well as musicians who have experience with classical music but may not have played chamber music in the past. Our goal is for all members of the club to have the opportunity to play in an ensemble and perform at the end of the semester in our final concert. We host masterclasses with Bates faculty or a visiting artist once a semester to expose musicians to professional critique. Each spring, we have a visiting chamber music group to perform for and speak with our members, as well as members of the Bates community. Some representative repertoire includes the Mendelssohn Octet in E-Flat Major and the Beethoven op. 18 and 59 String Quartets.
