Mission
Bates College Student Government (BCSG) exists to provide voice and resources to student concerns. As part of this charge, it oversees, in conjunction with the support of the Office of Campus Life, all student clubs at Bates. BCSG works to further student interests at Bates to ensure an open, equitable, and accessible campus for all community members.

BCSG meetings are open to all Bates community members.

BCSG meetings provide a forum for students to voice concerns and support, allowing BCSG to engage in advocacy and articulate student interests to the administration and faculty.

Our mission as a robotics club is to offer students opportunities for technical immersion within the liberal arts environment. We feel it is important to make this subject accessible to people of all backgrounds, in a place where students can grow, develop, and share ideas. We aim to promote an environment where students can develop skills and learn from one another, fostering a community of innovators and makers. As part of our mission to foster this environment, we hope to extend these ideals to the greater Lewiston-Auburn region through community oriented events. By offering students an environment where students can become aware of interests and develop skills in the many disciplines of robotics, the club intersects with the missions of the College and Campus Life: contributing to intellectual discovery, exploration, and helping encourage the development of more rounded individuals.

The BCSG Funding & Activities Board (FAB) is comprised entirely of students, and as a body reviews new club applications, funding requests, and programming requests on behalf of Bates College Student Government and Campus Life.

Breaks at Bates funding is available to students wishing to host an on-campus event or program open to all Bates students during official college breaks. These events/programs are coordinated by students and may include food that is aimed at bringing students together in meaningful ways. Individual students and those affiliated with student clubs and organizations may apply for this funding.

Any individual student, student club, or student organization may apply for this funding. Please note that Campus Life recommends a minimum of one week’s planning time for Breaks at Bates events and programs in order to accommodate logistical needs as they arise.

Reflecting the Bates Institutional Plan, Campus Life plays an integral role in the education of the whole person, a "process through which students become aware of their interests, community, and purpose in the world." We deepen the student experience by providing resources and opportunities to explore interests through involvement in student clubs and organizations, social events and programs, skill building workshops, and employment opportunities. An equity and inclusion lens is foundational to our work - we actively aspire to dismantle -isms and -phobias, and partner with students to do the same in their areas of influence.

[Club Table Tennis] serves as a unifying force for students passionate about table tennis, creating a vibrant community within the constraints of limited on-campus space. Aligned with Campus Life's mission, the club offers a unique platform for students to explore their interest in table tennis, fostering inclusivity and community engagement. Our primary goal is to build a tight-knit community by connecting students with shared interests and providing a welcoming environment for all members, regardless of skill level. Beyond fostering connections, our members will actively contribute to each other's growth through paper practice and by providing training for beginners in sports. This inclusive approach promotes skill development for club members and officers and encourages exploring new interests. Moreover, [Club Table Tennis] extends its positive impact beyond campus borders, aiming to collaborate with after-school programs and other clubs and participate in Bates College events related to table tennis. The club goes beyond a sports organization, embodying a community that thrives on shared passions and mutual support while impacting the campus and the local communities.

Mission
Filmboard provides showings of films for Bates and the larger community. Films are shown for free! Filmboard's objective is to offer social viewing experiences, including some 21+, Campus Life sponsored events. Additionally, working with other clubs on campus allows for a diverse range of film screenings and discussions after film screenings. Members help select and show films. New faces are always welcome!

The purpose of this club is for students to learn how to make Jewelry and meet new people. This club enriches the Bates and Lewiston-Auburn Communities by bringing together students of different racial and ethnic backgrounds and encourages each other to create art through jewelry. This club relates to and furthers the Bates College mission and the Campus Life mission by being open to all Bates students, no matter skill level or background. This club is an opportunity to become involved in the student experience while also taking part in equity and inclusion work.
